Train Buddies

On the long train ride from Budapest to Novi Sad, I sat in a compartment with 3 other people. 2 were from Vienna Austria and one was from Belgrade.

The Serbian was an art historian with many published books. He was pissed off at the Hungarian border control police, as they refused to stamp this one document for him. The document allowed him to get his 20% tax back on any purchases made in Hungary....a total of 200 euros.

He also had another run in with the Hungarian police when he crossed the border into Hungary...on a bus. The police stopped the bus and demanded 3 euros from every passenger.

I don`t think that Hungary and Serbia like each other that much.
